How to find and share your WhatsApp channel link

A WhatsApp channel link opens your channel so people can follow it with one tap. It works from a website, a social profile, a video description, a QR code or an email, and people do not need to search for the channel by name.

The link comes from WhatsApp and looks like https://whatsapp.com/channel/ followed by a code. It is long and easy to get wrong, so Whatslynk wraps it in a short link and a QR code, and counts how many people open it.

What to know

  • Where the link comes from

WhatsApp creates it for you. Open your channel, tap its name and choose to copy or share the link. You do not have to build it yourself.

  • What it looks like

The address starts with https://whatsapp.com/channel/ and ends with a code that belongs to your channel.

  • One link, many places

The same link works in a bio, a video description, an email signature, a poster or a slide.

  • It opens the app

On a phone the link opens WhatsApp. On a computer it opens WhatsApp Web or the desktop app.

Step by step

  1. 1

    Open your channel in WhatsApp

Go to the Updates tab and open your channel.

  2. 2

    Copy the link

Tap the channel name to open its details, then choose Copy link or Share. The wording can differ slightly between phones and app versions.

  3. 3

Make it short, and add a QR code

Paste the link into Whatslynk and choose Channel. You get a short link and a QR code.

  4. 4

    Share it and test it

Open the short link on a phone to check that your channel opens, then add it to your bio, videos, emails or print.
